hello class of 2025 I am mrs. playlist and I am going to be talking today about forecasting the forecasting is when you get to pick your car you would like to take for next year now everybody will need to take 7 classes and you will have a full schedule that will also include an INT class which is which stands for our intervention and enrichment some of you might be thinking can I take Lawson 7 no and the program won't let you forecast for anything less what does a regular diploma required well as you can see here's a list of them it does require 4 years of language arts 3 years of math 3 years of science now depending on what you want to do after high school there are some colleges and universities that will require 4 years so we do recommend and we will try 4 years of those classes and as you can see I'm not reading everything that's on these flies I will let you take a look at those I'm just going to some of you is more important details I'm so in the state of Oregon one of the things that is required is that you've been Smart in reading math and language arts and a few skip change me never know but for now that is something that is required as well as a career credit Now when you're picking your classes I want you to be thinking about what it is that you're interested in what you potentially want to After High School and not so much what your friends are going to take you no wanting to have those same classes as your friends because what they're interested in might be very different from what you are and classes that you don't really care for or not going to be fun that's going to be really hard for you to to want to study and do well in those classes because they're not you right until we want you to think about you and put yourself and the other thing too is that we want to hear the more that you attend the class has the higher your grades are going to be the easier the classes are going to be when you miss you miss a lot of information and students grades tend to go down this is what the attendance and the grades look like you're at the high school currently one of the things that will happen sometimes is that students will thing everybody's gets at the high school when we found that that isn't true the majority of our students are coming to class and if it feels like you are seeing a lot of people skip then it's probably you're just not around the right people because of you can see over half of Arts do you do are here 80 to 90% of the time or above when can you start forecasting well April 26th this will be open and you'll be able to go in and forecast for these classes just follow the instructions that we are giving in this video and you will be able to do that there's also additional resources that you want to check out on our Hermiston High School website I'm and it's just good to get familiar with the webpage for information that you would like there is a forecasting sheet available and this one isn't one that you have to fill out it is how if you want to print it off and just use that in the guide while you're going through and forecasting but we do need you to do it online so that we get that information of what classes you would like to take but this is just showing you that these are the classes that are already required and have been determined for you for example math people might be at different levels and so it will show on there if there are specific ones for you you are able to choose between biology and physical science however physical science would just be if you have fairly strong math skills now every class is worthpoint 5 credits and how to get the total of 7 credits you can see on here that for is already picked for you and those are your required classes but that leaves you 3 regrets not three classes 3 credits so if you pick semester-long elective and then that's going to mean you have to pick 6 if you pick your long electives right then that would be three and you can have a combination of of those but what you want to do is have a total of 7 credits hey on the electives it'll give you a list of different electives that are available to you as a 9th grade and if you're not sure which one to take you can always go to the course catalog and be able to pick from from the classes there I'm not pick but be able to read more about them you're able to cuz he videos that will help you to get better feel for what the class potentially is like now on the course catalog you might see other classes that are not available when you forecast and that could be because they're not available to ninth-grader but what it does allow you to do who is be able to see if there's any prerequisites right so for example if that if there's a class that you really want to take and it says you have to take this one first was a 9th grader that's important for you to know because then you can pick back up and I know that in the future you'll be able to take these other ones because you've already taken the the prerequisite so April 26th when you log is your Periscope off to the side you're going to see a section that says class registration and on here it's highlighted in pink but you'll be able to click on that and be able to go in and use your classes as you can see there's a little box on the side and when you click on it and it'll do a checkmark and I'm down on the bottom it'll say you have selected one course and then you'll be able to click okay and for electives you have two different sections one that semester-long electives and one that's a year-long elective once you've selected all of your classes you'll be able to see them all listed and all of the categories off to the right will have a green check mark if there's something that still showing up as read by the the pencil icon generally means you have to go in and select something in that category okay and then at the very end it will have a button that says segment you want to make sure that you did that and you are able to go back again future Minds it seems that the dollhouse run that means it is time to go and so my last slide here shows my email and my contact information if you
